Rigobert Rossignol épousa Delphinée hudon en 1846 puis Elisa Lavoie en 1869. Il était le fils de Yves Rossignol et de Théotiste Lavoie. Rigobert a été maire de St-Denis-de-Kamouraska de 1866 à 1872, puis de 1873 à 1885. Pour un temps il fut aussi marguillier de la paroisse. Si nous ressemblons davantage à nos grand-parents qu'à nos parents, alors Rigobert devrait ressembler à Julien Rossignol, son grand-père!(photo prêtée par Michel, Isabelle et Julien Rossignol) - Rigobert Rossignol married Delphinée hudon in 1846 then Elisa Lavoie in 1869. He was the son of Yves Rossignol and of Théotiste Lavoie. Rigobert was mayor of St-Denis-de-Kamouraska from 1866 to 1872, then from 1873 to 1885. For a time he was also church warden for the parish. Julien Rossignol and his wife Jacquette Dori appear on this bill of sale dated 1683. If confirms that they lived at La Morissais in the parish of Antrain in Ille-et-Vilaine France. It's the oldest family document found so far. I've highlighted in red the pertinent areas. (Archives Départementales d'Ille-et-Vilaine)/Ce document daté de 1683 montre les noms de Julien Rossignol et de son épouse Jacquette dori. Il confirme qu'ils résidaient dans le lieu dit La Morissais dans la paroisse de Antrain en Ille-et-Vilaine France. C'est le plus ancien document concernant notre famille trouvé à date. Il était le fils de Rigobert Rossignol et de Delphinée Hudon. Eugène fut lieutenant-colonel du 61e régiment et fit parader ses troupes sur les Plaines d'Abraham en 1908 à l'occasion des festivitées du 3ooe anniversaire de la fondation de Québec. The present church was built in 1836, so this map shows the old church (D) 2 years prior. Julien Rossignol and his father were baptised in it and his parents and grandparents were buried in the adjoining cemetary. Compare this map with the modern map next following this one. ADIV, Cadastre Napoleonien, 3P5553, section 2 de l'eglise./ L'église actuelle fut construite en 1836. Ce plan montre l'ancienne église (D) 2 ans avant la construction de la nouvelle. Julien Rossignol's great grand mother sold her inheritance rights in 2 lots of land along this road on April 1683. The near end is at Cuce, left, and chateau de la Ballue, right. The road leads to the road linking Haut Trehin and Bas Trehin./ La bisaïeul de Julien Rossignol vendit ses droits d'héritage dans 2 terres sises le long de ce chemin en avril 1683. A gauche on se rend à Cucé, à droite au château de La Ballue. Le chemin mène au chemin reliant Le Haut Trehin et le Bas Trehin.

The fishing fleet here also fished off Gaspé, Newfoundland and St-Pierre-et-Miquelon and Julien Rossignol may have sailed out of this port./ C'est le second port en proximité de Sougéal. The pink line cuts La Morissais in two. The left part is in the commune of Antrain and the right section is in the St-Ouen-La-Rouërie commune. In 1683 Julien Rossignol's great grand father was living at La Morissais in the parish of Antrain, thus to the left of the pink line where no houses remain. géoportail.fr (division administrative button)./ La ligne rose représente la division administrative entre les communes d'Antrain et de St-Ouen-La-Rouërie. This is the closest port to Sougéal. It is probable that Julien Rossignol sailed out of this port to come to Canada as it is a fishing port used to fish off Gaspé and Newfoundland as well as St-Pierre-et-Miquelon. These fishermen, then and now are refered to as Terreneuvats./ C'est le port le plus rapproché de Sougéal. Julien Rossignol a probablement quitté la France par ce port qui servait aux pêcheurs se rendant au large de Terreneuve et de Gaspé ainsi qu'à St-Pierre-et-Miquelon. Maintenant comme avant ces pêcheurs sont appelés Terreneuvats.
