To get maximum benefit from this, hands should not be used, but if there are balance issues, then using them out to the sides on the floor is ok. Her left leg is the weaker, more damaged one, so as she gets stronger, she shouldn't need to continue using her hand to help lift the leg

This position requires a side walker on each side, supporting the legs, so that the stretch is managed. Rider has head resting on horses rump and can ride around in this position with the support. Horse has leader too
